^Page 6 Cougar Cry High Hopes for Mens Basketball By Michael Blevins The WCC Cougar men’s basketball team is entering the season with high hopes. After a building season last year, the Cougars have many returning key players, and like James French, the teams second leading scorer a year ago, DeShawn Mecain who led the team in rebounds. Although losing a few players to bigger schools, the Cougars will be one of the most talented teams in Region X, possibly in WCC history. Don't take my word for it, come and check them out yourselves. By Michael Blevins This year’s volleyball season hasn’t been much to smile about. As of September 24,* the Lady Cougars had a 3-7 win-loss record. Despite the losing record, the team is starting to come together, winning three of their last five matches. Two out of the three wins were 3 to 0 shutouts. One of the brightest spots in the season is freshmen outside hitter Jessica Yearick. Yearick ended September ranked number three in the NJCAA nation, averaging 1.222 aces per game. The Cougar Cry would like to congratulate Yearick on the first half of her season. Keep up the good work. The team has one remaining home game on October 21“ at 11:00am. Come support the Cougars as they try to make a late season run. ‘TheyQlceof The Hdlt3rd * vJS* V' o mm 3 I lines are open for re^^sr
