Moonshine B Thunder: The Story of Junior Johnso n. This play tells the story of local racecar driving legend, Junior Johnson, and his early years of making moonshine and running from revenuers. Directed and written by Karen Reynolds, Moonshine and Thunder features vintage vehicles (a 1940 Ford Coupe, and a 1939 Ford Pick up Truck), a bagpipe player, half-naked streaker, moonshine stills explosions, and one angry woman with a shotgun. Other WCC students involved in this play were: Erica Dunn, Kyle Lacey, Stephen Horton, Shea Akers, Justin Gambill, William Brooks, and Toby McChillen. The cast and crew came together to make the show a memorable experience for all who attended. The Forest Edge Amphitheatre at Fort Hamby Park hosted this show giving the audience a sense of reality in the show. WCC freshman, Stephanie Burke stated "The whole atmosphere out at Fort Hamby is so beautiful, right near the lake, the new facility is so nice and the moonlight and stars help make the scene fit." The play ran from Oct. 2nd through the 5th as well as Oct. 9th through the 12th. The show started at 7:20 each night. Tickets for the show were sold through the Wilkes Playmakers, at the guard house Cougar Cry entering Fort Hamby, as well as at the Brushy Mountain Applefestival. The next play from the WCC Drama Department will be "Stocking Stuffers". It is a compilation of short pieces revolving around the Christmas holiday.
