with action. The benefit of friend
ship is that it helps to lift men to
a higher level and makes them do
their best. If we associate with
Christ lie will bring out the best

The next was an address by Mr.
Ramsour on the theme, ".Mission
ary Department in Student Asso
ciations." The speaker handled
this subject in a very splendid
way. This was followed by some
remarks on Mission Study Books
led by Mr. Harnett, assisted by
l>r. Weathcrford and Mr. Sum
merville.
Saturday afternoon was given
over to a general discussion of the
social activities of the various as
sociations: Wake Forest, Blon,
Davidson, Carolina, and others,
made interesting reports that in
dicated progressive work in these
associations. These reported
work done among factory people,
the rural population, and the ne
groes. Many good suggestions
were exchanged. This was follow
ed by Mr. Wilson's talk on "The
V. M. C. A. Secretaryship as a
Life Calling." The appeal of the
calling was well presented.
On Sunday morning Dr. Weath
erford again led the Bible Study
in a most instructive way, which
is characteristic of him. To ap
preciate l)r. Weatherford's labors
in this conference one must be
present at the Bible Study period.
Every evening at the close of
the address the leaders of the As
sociations met in conferences to
discuss the problems of Y. M. C.
A. work. These were very inter
esting and instructive.
Certainly no one person or
group of persons can claim the
honor of being responsible for the
success of the conference. Every
one is due a share. The visiting
delegates were fine fellows and
they labored to make their time
spent here count. The leaders and
speakers were able and untiring.
But T think that all must agree
that Mr. E. G. Wilson deserves
special mention for his labors, for
it was he that planned and direct
ed the whole affair. The Guilford
delegation was composed of L. G.
