That time of the year is at hand when the farmers can see the re sult of their labor. Their harvest is bountiful, and as a result our land is filled with plenty. The dove of peace has found a resting place here and we as a nation have great reason to be thankful. As students we should be thank ful for this little respite from work. Many of us too, will be able to spend this vacation at home, and the word home, to those whose homes are still unvisited with sorrow, is the greatest cause for Thanksgiving. Here it was that we were taught the real sig nificance of Thanksgiving and here let us return and find again that spirit of true thankfulness. Let us not only be thankful our selves, but give others reason to be thankful also. Our parents will enjoy this vacation much more if Ave spend it with them. If we show consideration for their slightest wishes and make our vis it pleasant for them, they will have cause to be thankful that they have made sacrifices for us. Above all let us catch the true spirit of Thanksgiving. Be thank ful to the Divine Being for all the blessings we are now enjoying and try to deserve them by mak ing some one else happy and thankful. EDITORIAL NOTE. There will be no issue of The Guilfordian next week, due to Thanksgiving holidays. Y. W. C. A. NOTES. It was very fitting that Mrs. Meredith should choose "Pray Without Ceasing" as a text for our Thursday evening prayer serv ice. Her remarks based 011 this text helped to fix in our mind the idea that has been before us this week. Many times we do not act with the presence of mind that we should. As each new situation arises it will depend upon how we have been living whether or not we will be master of the situa tion. The person wlio is always see ing the dark side of everything is not prepared to meet difficulties. We often waste lots of time just worrying. Why not look for the best in our friends and forget, sometimes, their faults. The girl who always feels sorry for herself is not likely to act in an unselfish manner towafds others. Study the life of Christ and find out how he coped with cir cumstance?. In reading His life we often find this sentence —'"And he spent all night in prayer." This is the best way to solve all prob lems. It is all right to pray at stated times, but we should be in such an attitude towards God that we can pray whenever we feel the need of his help—this is when we get most out of prayer. Things happen so suddenly, so overwhelmingly that we forget. We intend to be kind; we intend to think of others first, but we for get. If we live constantly in touch with our Rest Friend we would mean much more to those who live with us. LETTERS TO GUILFORDIAN. (The publication of letters does not necessarily mean that their senti ments are indorsed by the Board.) To the "Editor-in-Chief" of the Guil fordian: I am writing this asking for in formation regarding the letter. "The Mistaken Ideas of Leader ship," which appeared in last week's issue of The Guilfordian. In the first place, I could not quite understand whether the au thor of the letter preferred people without feeling 01* people who wear their feelings on theirsleeves. We should remember that Ibis is a Quaker College and that Quak ers are of a plain spoken mind and we should not "fly off the handle" merely because our pills are not sugar-coated. It is to be regretted that all cannot be lead ers but such a fact is inevitable. Anything without a head is worth less, and anything with more than one head is considered a freak of nature. Anyway the two heads would probably be pulling in op posite directions and "a house di vided against itself cannot stand." Why then should not leaders, for the good of the cause, "set their opinions above everybody's—and never lose faith in themselves." There are some people who are always grumbling and quarreling because they cannot be the leader, even though they are not qualified for such a position. Let us pity them. INTERESTED INQUIRER.
