Joe Reddi'ck, presi dent of the Senior class, gave an ap propriate response. During the even ing the musicians of the class, Misses Blair and Hobbs and Mr. Fitzgerald, charmed their hearers with the ex cellent rendering of their respective themes. Miss Blair, with her inimitable touch, gave a most pleasing ipiano se lection, and Mies Hobbs and Mr. Fitz gerald were at their bust and sang their respective solos with an 'unsur passed degree of excellence. A delicious course was served by the Sophomore girls, Misses Camp bell, V. Mcßane, Moore, D. Mcßane, ( loud and Raiford. The menu was as follows: Chicken salad with lettuce hearts Sal'tinee Olives Sandwiches Ice Cream a La 'Su6anne Angel Food Cake Crackers Cheese Cafe JNoir But on occasions such as this the hands of time move swifter and soon —too soon—the Seniors realized that tor them that occasion hoped for and dreamed of had come and gone. But tho' there was a bit o' sadness mixed with all the gladness, yet .most of all there was admiration for those who had planned and executed so lovely a reception. And as the 18's departed they felt that when May should come and go, they could with befitting ease, bestow their togas of dignity and seniority upon so worthy and so deserving a class. RUTH COLETRANE ELECTED PRESIDENT OF Y. W. C. A. The last regular Thursday evening prayer meeting was opened by Miss Ediwards, who gave a brief account of the Northfield conference and the good which has resulted from this meeting. This was the time in course for the election of Y. W. C. A. officers lor the coming year and the names submitted were as follows: For president, Ruth Coletrane, Frances Moore; secretary, Vira Clodfelter, Alma Chilton; treasurer, Eula Hock ett, Katherine Campbell. From these candidates Ruth Coletrane was elect ed president, Vira Clodfelter secre tary, and Eula Hockett treasurer. These officers will be installed at a business meeting in the near future. ZATASIANS CONTINUE THEIR MARCH TOWARD PERFECTION The program of the Zatasian So ciety for Friday of last week was de cidedly one of the best and most in teresting /programs of the year. So far there has been no lack of interest shown in the work and the society is hoping to make the last three months work the best of the whole year. PHILOMATHEANS HAVE PATRIOTIC PROGRAM At the regular meeting on last Fri day evening, the Philomathean Lit erary Society was favored with an unusually jnteresting program on war subjects. As this was the regular time for electing officers, the following were chosen: Ellen R'aiford, president; Frances Moore, secretary; Lulu Rai ford, marshal. MICROSCOPIC TECHNIQUE AT THE SCIENCE CLUB The faithful few who resisted oth er attractions to attend Science Club on Wednesday, March 6th, were re warded by .hearing 'an interesting talk on methods in microscopic tech nique. Professor Rogers told about the use and limitation of the microscope and demonstrated the mechanism of the micrometer. He explained the theory and practice of fixing and de hydrating tissues, and the principal methods of imbedding, cutting, stain inig and mounting biological mate rials. As the progress made in biology has depended upon the improvement of histological technique, Professor Rogers' lecture proved very instruc tive to those interested in that science. BREAKFAST PARTY GIVEN BY COOKERY CLASS On Saturday morning the second division o,f the cookery class gave an attractive breakfast iparty in the dining room of the department. The guests were Misses Burtie Dix and Maude Gainey, Prof. J. Speed Rogers and Mr. Robert Doak. Miss Mary Lou Raiford made a charming hostess, while Miss Mary Coble performed the duties of the host. Misses Frances McCracken and Lulu Raiford were the graceful wait resses for the occasion.
