HEBE AND THERE. Plans for the forthcoming class book are rapidly taking shape and groups wearing their most charming smiles and looking their best may be found posing before the camera on any sunshiny day. At the Thursday evening prayer meeting held on March 28 Addie Morris read a most interesting pamphlet which has recently been is sued by Y .W. C. A. headquarters. This pamphlet has been put out in the attempt to make clear the ideas urged by the conference recently held at Northfield, Mass. This con ference recognized the need of North American students mobilizing for Christian world democracy. The program proposed is rollowe: (1) The enlistment of college stu dents in a study and discussion of Christian principles, based on (a) The life and teachings of Jesus; (b) 1 lie need of his principles in the world today; (c) The need of his principles in the inter-racial and so cial life of North America. (2) A call to decision for Christ and his service at whatever cost, on the campus, in the nation, in the world. (3) An adequate number o'f quali fied men and women for the foreign missionary program of the church. (4) Half a million dollars for the ioreign missionary program of the church and such funds as may be necessary to meet the need arising from the war situation in 1918-1 ylj. 'TIS SPRING! That time when nature dons her prettiest gowns, And wears her beckoning luring smile. 'Tis Spring! When earthly things soar up on care free wings We cannot choose but follow on awhile. But tlio we hearken to the call and follow all the way VV e find the pleasures we pursued have quickly passed away. So back again we find our path into the beaten track, Where duty, pleasure newly wed, Come walking forth, and back! —G. F. A LOVELY SCENE We stood at the bars as the sun went down Beneath the hills on a summer day; Her eyes were tender and big and brown, Her breath as sweet as the new mown hay. I* ar from the west the faint sunshine Glanced sparkling off her golden hair; Those calm, deep eyes were turned toward mine, And a look of contentment rested there. I see her bathed in the sunflight flood. I see her standing peacefully now, Peacefully standing and chewing her cud, As I rub'bed her ears—that Jersey cow. Anoymous, in Harvard Advocate. E.
