4 PROF. ANSCOMB LEADS Y. M. C. A The regular meeting of the Y. M. C. A. Thursday night was led by Prof. Anscomb. The leader spoke of the faith of some of the Bible characters. He with Abra ham, and told of his great desire to have a son of his own. Then Isaac was born. When he was about to offer his son as a sacrifice the Lord prepared a sacrifice ready for the oc casion. This marks the turning point. Abraham instructed Isaac to walk humbly with God and trust in this new faith and to instruct his children in this faith. Isaac married and to this union were born Esau and Jacob. Esau being the oldest should by custom be heir, law giver, general in time of war, and priest. He must teach his children this faith. But as the boys grew Esau became a man who loved fhe chase and cared for noth ing noble. As Esau grew older he lost his opportunity. He despiseu his birthright and sold it to Jacob. Jacob loved his birthright and loved to hear his father tell the story of his faith. It hurt him because Esau failed to grasp its real value. Esau was a profane man, he wanted to be one of the boys. It isn't necessary for us to use mean ways to get the other fellow out and us in. How are you valuing your birthright? Like Esau did or Jacob? Don't allow your worldly pleasure, as did Esau, to interfere with your spiritual growth. Always be like Jacob, put an estimate on your birthright and work to increase that value by your good deeds. This is what it takes to enjoy and live the true faith which Abraham and Isaac spoke so earnestly about. Be a man, stand for a principle and live it. A CIRCUS FOR THE FRESHMEN On April 29 members of the class of '22 were seen making their way to the Binford cottage, having re ceived an invitation to come there for a circus. They were met by Mrs. Binford in her charming manner and ushered to the circus grounds, where the fun began. First the community gossip started, which is always heard at such times when small in cidents become great events. During the rounds of gossip each guest was given a newspaper with the name of an animal on it which was to be torn from the paper. A pin contest was next enjoyed by the girls and a tight rope walking contest by the boys. Annie Walker and Hugh White were the successful contest ants, each being presented with a rubber soap bubble. Following this a familiar looking clown—who in civil life is known as T. D. Ander son made his appearance, dressed in the comic sections of the Daily News. H oevageutti ,cac, vmfllyu News.
