4 MOTHERS, AND OUR DUTY TO THEM Was Lineberry's Message to Y. M. O. A. Our duties to our mothers was quite forcibly impressed upon us last Thursday evening by Authur Line berry at the weekly prayer meeting. Quoting first the scriptural admoni tion to "Honor thy father and thy mother that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee" the speaker then went on to develop the subject quite vividly. "What is a home without a mother?" he said. None of our homes are quite the same if at any time mother is missing from them. It is our duty to strive to make our mothers happy because we now are old enough to realize the many sac rifices she has made for our happi ness. Great men, such as Robert E Lee, U. S. Grant and George Wash ington were never ashamed to show their filial devotion and honor to their mothers. No matter if our mothers may be~ a little old fashion ed the love we should bear towards them should not be affected by any mere appearance or manner. Especially, lie said, when we go home Christmas should we endeavor to shorw our mothers that we have not grown away from them. Write to them often letters of our life, thoughts, hopes and ambitions. We can never hope to fully repay but we can at least make her happy for awhile. "No poet's pen or painter's brush can ever do justice to the vis ion of mother every boy should hold in his heart. Although the Guilford team show ed up well, did pretty fair passing, showed some skill at the basket, ' and displayed flashs of team work at different intervals of the game, it is by no means perfect. In practice the scrub team is able to give the varsity a hard battle; in fact, ithere is as yet not a very definite line of distinction between varsity and scrub teams. Coach Doak is very anxious to start practice as early as possible after the holidays. He hopes that arrangements may be made to start practice by the first of January. This will give just twelve days for practice before meeting Trinity Col lege. J. M. Hendrix & Co. The Home of Good Shoes Greensboro, N. C.
