B.—Those desiring additional copies of the paper may secure them for the sum of 10 cents per copy Member of Intercollegiate Press Association EDITORIAL The work of last Thursday was one of the best expressions of the Guilford spirit that has been made during the past few years. Every one was a worker that day. To be a "boss" or foreman would have been a disgrace. No one thought of shirking and no one thought of the work of the other fellow. Every one worked. Jf measured in dollars worth of labor the half day's work meant a gift of no small sum to the college. S:rice last Thursday any student or member of the faculty feels that he has a bigger interest in the college than ever before. Students will in the future, be more careful in the treatment of college property, and in the appearance of the campus. This work was planned by a stu dent committee, acting voluntarily. The work was not forced upon the students by the faculty. The students now see that much can be done through cooperation without the loss of very much time or work by any one student. There is other work that may be done and will be as soon as the students be come aware of the necessity of such work. —o — Many boys do not see the l'eal value of football practice. It is looked upon mora as a means of get ting credit for a certain number of hours for physical culture. Guilford makes the majority of her foot ball players. Very few of the last years' team had handled a foot ball before coming to Guilford. Some of the best players on the team were men with only one year of foot ball experience. Then whole hearted foot ball practice this spring ought to mean much to many fellows who have had little or no foot ball experience. It will mean that many fellows will start into real foot ball next. fall instead of looking on for about half of the season. It will mean a much strengthened squad for next year. The compulsory athletic rule makes it necessary to take part in some kind of athletics. Why not every fellow who expects to take pai't in the great game next fall, jump into the preliminary training WITH OTHER QUAKERS Earlhams Drops Base Ball Inter-collegiate base ball will be discontinued at Earlham college this year. This action is temporary, and applies only to this year. The ac tion was taken because baseball has meant an annual loss to the college of several hundred dollars. The mon ey saved by this action will be used to improve the college track. Such an act as this would aston ish a student of a southern college where baseball instead of track work, is the principal sport of the spring term. The Honor System At Friends University The honor system has recently been adopted by the students of versity, agree to adopt the following is the declaration of principles which was adopted; We, the students of Friends Uni versity, agree to adopt the fololwing declaration of principles. We hereby bind ourselves to be governed by our individual honor, and by the standard of honor appro priate to the traditions and ideals of the school. We agree to be hon orable in the classroom, in the halls, in the library, on the campus, and in any place where the good name of our school is affected by our actions. We shall endeavor at all times to respect the rights of others. Moreover we agree to endeavor to raise our standard of honor, and to influence student sentiment and opin ion to a higher standard. We also agree that the enforce ment of these principles shall be left to the public student opinion." —University Life.
