GUILFORD BEATS DUKE AND CATAWBAI
Woman's College was host for a
statewide playday last Saturday,
November 1, which saw colleges
from all over the state competing
in hockey, tennis, swimming, and
archery. Guilford sent a hockey
team and two tennis players.
The hockey games were run off
in a round robin, each team playing
every other team in a 12-minute
jame. Catawba, Duke, Greensboro
College, Guilford, Salem, and Worn
an's College were the colleges repres
ented in hockey.
The Guilford-Salem game ,was
first on the schedule. The newness
of surroundings and of playing
against unfamiliar players hurt the
Guilford team at the beginning, with
the result that they came out 01
the tail and of a 1-0 score.
Improvement Shown
The same score was the result of
the Woman's College-Guilford game,
which was, nevertheless, a vast im
provement over the loss of 5-0 to
Woman's College last year.
In the mean time the team be
came used to the surroundings and

on to some of their strengths and

the fact that Guilford was tired of
