"The Glass Menagerie" To Be Presented By
The Revelers Tonight And Tomorrow Night

One of the newer organizations
on the campus, organized essen
tially for the enrichment and per
petuation of the religious life and
faith of Guilford's Baptist stu
dents, is the Baptist Student Union.
Meetings are to be held on alter
nate Wednesday evenings (6:45 p.
m.) and will consist of devotional
periods and programs. At the last
meeting held November 17, Dr.
Whitaker, state secretary of the
Baptist Student Union, was guest
and speaker. Information concern
ing meeting dates and programs
can be procured through Gerry
Price, president.
Thanksgiving Dinner
Thanksgiving Dinner this year
will be served at 1:00 p.m. For the
past several years we have had a
loot ball game on Thanksgiving
afternoon, and the dinner at night.
This year, however, since we have
no game, dinner will be in the
middle of the day.

SCA Thanksgiving
Service
The Student Christian Associa
tion is sponsoring a Thanksgiving
worship service in the Meeting
House at 10:00 a. m. on Thanks
giving Day. The service will be di
rected by B'ill Gibson.
The Guilford College A Capella
Choir will present several selec
tions of Thanksgiving music. The
Choir, under the able direction of
Mr. C. C. Baumbach, presented the
music for the Founders' Day cele
bration.
This year, and for the next three
years, the U. S. Government is
contributing 500 million pounds of
surplus wheat, cotton, cottonseed
oil, corn, corn products, butter,
cheese and powdered milk to the
Church World Service, and is
paying the cost of transportation
with the stipulation that the C. W.
S. raise the $7.5 million needed to
dis : ribute the surplus. This is part
i the "Share the Surplus" plan.
Each $1 contributed by each of
us f?r this distribution will release
$23 worth of food to the needy.
These foodstuffs will go to the
needy all over the world, and
ihirty-five denominations are join
ing in this undertaking.
The offering today will be to
wards this cause. Let's make this
Thanksgiving Day a "Share Our
Surplus" Day.
Barbara Ann Davis
Wins Chicago Trip
Miss Barbara Ann Davis, a
Freshman from Pikeville, N. C.,
has won an expense-paid trip to
Chicago to compete in the national
competition of the 4-H Club. She
is the state winner in the frozen
foods division, having won first in
Wayne County and then in her
eleven-county district before tak
ing the state title. She had won in
the county in 1948, 1952, 1953, and

Haring, Dettor, Brown
And Thompson In Cast
At 8:00 p. m. tonight and to
morrow night the Revelers Club
will present its fall production,
"The Glass Menagerie." The lead
roles will be played by Lee Haring
and Nancy Dettor. They will be
supported by Sydney Thompson
and Ted Brown. They are all vet
erans of former plays; Sydney and'
Ted were in both the fall and
spi-ing plays last year; Nancy was
in the fall play; and Mr. Haring
was in the spring play. Mr. Haring
is faculty advisor of the Revelers
Club and director of their produc
tions.
Tennessee Williams, author of
"The Glass Menagerie," wrote
"The Streetcar Named Desire"
which was produced as an Acad
emy Award winning motion pic
ture. "The Glass Menagerie" also
has been produced as a motion pic
ture.
"The Glass Menagerie" is the
story of a young girl living in a
dream world surrounded by her
faithful animals. It tells of an am
bitious mother and the harm she
does.
This play promises to be an en
joyable one, for the Revelers are
noted for their excellent produc
tions.
