Freshman Class To Give Party Tonight Friday the 13th of April is the date and theme of the freshman class party to be held in the gym from 7:30 to 10:30 P.M. This is a get-together for the freshmen only. There will be round dancing as well as square dancing and games. Fun will be had by everyone who attends. Eleven o'clock permission will be granted for the freshmen girls, so there will be no excuse for any freshman not to come. There will be no additional ad mission charge, providing you have paid your quarter to the freshman class. Gertie Murrow and Earl Jones head the social committee for the dance, and have, a good time plan ned for all. GUILFORD COLLEGE, FRIDAY, APRIL 13, 1956 Guilford College Art Exhibit Guilford College is very fortun ate to have an art exhibit pro duced by the Studio Guild of Redding, Conn. It includes the work of five contemporary artists, each of great promise. Bernice West has a sculpturing in the round entitled the Fountain group. This is undoubtedly the most valuable creation, being valued at SI,OOO. The three paint ers are: Dahli Sterne, painter of Paris street, Italian street scene, and Farmhouse; Ann Kocsis, who created Bananas and apples, Cone flower, and Storm; Selma Sheland er pained Celo mountain, Sand and sea, and Plantations ruins. All are for sale, ranging in price from SIOO to $230, except Ann Kocsis' Storm, which is not for sale. (Continued on Page 4) Freshman-Sophomore Picnic Tomorrow Night Each year on the night of the Junior-Senior Banquet, the Sop homore class entertains the Fresh man class. Tomorrow night is the date of this annual event. The evening's entertainment will begin at 6:30 with a picnic at the College Lake. Hot dogs, potato salad, pepsi's, and all the trimmings will be served. Following the picnic, Coach Meredith's skating rink and mini ature golf course at the Corner will be open to the two classes at reduced prices. Skating will be $.40 per person and golf 8.15 From 10:00 to 11:30 Shore Hall lounge will be available for ping pong, television, dancing, etc. Jimmie Askins, Sophomore Class resident, expresses a sincere wish that all members of both classes join in the evening of fellowship and fun. With the Junior Class as host and the Senior Class as honored guests, the annual Junior-Senior Banquet will be held in the dining hall of Founders Hall on the, even ing of April 14 at six o'clock. Amid the festive decorations will be found a delicious meal, graci ous waiters and waitresses, and delightful entertainment. The class sponsors—Senior Class: Mr. and Mrs. David Parsons, Junior Class: Dr. and Mrs. E. G. Purdom—will also be guests for the evening. At eight-thirty o'clock follow ing the banquet, the dance will be held in the gymnasium. Howard Waynick and his band will be Ihe musicians for the night. Many committees are necessary for an affair of this type, and many such committees have been at work for some time. The invitations committee, decoration committee, entertainment com mittee, and committee planning the menu have functioned effi ciently. This is the last formal honor paid the Seniors by the Junior Class and with it go the fondest wishes for a most successful career and a very happy life.
