Page 2 A NEW GUILFORDIAN By R. S. It is the desire of the new Guil fordian Staff to present their school with a worthwhile news paper. We hope that this ambition will foster a trend leading to ward a new period in Guilford Journalism. The consensus of opinion would seem to indicate that the Guil fordian has meant little more than an announcement sheet to both students and faculty members. To us, the conquest of such beliefs represents a goal. We believe that through unceasing and untiring labor we will eventually produce the sort of newspaper that you can be proud of. At the start of our year we would like to make clear to all, that there will be no magical transformation, it will take many issues to reach our end. This semester we are still somewhat hampered in various ways and can hope to do little to justify acceptance of The Guil fordian as a different type of We Need You Seniors! By R. S. One of the important steps we will take in the improvement of The Guilfordian will be to raise our circulation. It is thought that an increased circulation will help make the newspaper a going con cern. One way for us to do so in a manner beneficial to both you and ourselves, would be by asking the Senior Class to pay a nominal fee for a year's subscription. Yet it will be a period of experimentation and an unnotice able type of internal growth. The Guilfordian will follow a policy leading to its acceptance as an integral part of student life, as it is a student newspaper. We should like to perform a valuable function by keeping the student well informed. With the aid of various campus organizations The Guilfordian will be able to dis play a complete picture of campus life. We will try not to keep our wishes and aims covered, but to bring them to the attention of all who might be working parallel to us, so that we may work together in attaining our goal. We are sure that the entire stu dent body joins us in welcoming the new sports editorial column into The Guilfordian. This signi fies the first rung in our climb toward a thoroughly good Guil fordian, and with your aid and cooperation we will find it a fast climb to the top. way you will not lose contact with Guilford College and we will be able to gain by giving you a ser vice.
