God's Corner ~
There are many aspects to
life, and among them is the
spiritual aspect. Many of you
have grown up under the
Christian influence, though
not all of you and many are
perhaps unaware of what
exactly it can mean to live a
Christian life. I do not know
exactly what it means either,
but I and many others are
trying to understand more
fully what the Chrisian walk is.
If you are interested in
learning more about what it
means to walk in the way of
Jesus and would like to learn
with others who are interested
also, many of us (presently
around 25) gather together
every Thursday night at 10
p.m. (that late so there is no
class conflict) in upstairs
Founders to sing, pray, study
the Bible, and fellowship. Last
year as well as this year we are
strong not only in numbers
but also in the Spirit. There
are also other opportunities for

Doc Watson, America's
outstanding guitarist in the
field of traditional American
folk music, will appear in con
cert at the High Point Theatre
on October 5 at 8 p.m. Call

The Guilfordian
Dr. John Moore to Return to Greensboro
Dr. John Moore, inter
nationally reknowned herb
ologist and hobo, will be
returning to Greensboro Friday,
September 24 through
Tuesday, September 28.
Dr. Moore teaches herbology
at Hunter College in New York
City, and is a membe of the
Kanya Academy at The Tree
of Life Bookstore. He has
appeared at the International
Healers' Symposium in Phil
adelphia and has been awarded
a Doctor of Survival degree by
New York University.

ASSERTIVE NESS TRAIN
ING Being assertive means
standing up for your rights and
feelings without violating the
rights and feelings of another.
Many of us have trouble being
assertive. How about you?
objectives for this group will
include:
★ Learn what it means to be
assertive
★ Become familiar and
comfortable with various asser
tive techniques
★ Practice using the techn
iques to become more assertive
STUDY GROUP lf you have
difficulty studying, and are not
sure you are making the most
use of your study time, you may
find this group helpful.
Objectives include:
educated scientist who learned
to identify plants from botany
texts. He has a diverse back
ground. He first became inter
ested in herbology in his native
Caddogap, Arkansas, and
added to this knowledge
through his many trips across
the U.S. by freight train. On
these journeys he met such
noted characters as poet Carl
Sandburg and Jack Dempsey,
fighter.
Dr. Moore will speak on Fri
day September 24 on WEAL
(1510 AM) from 11 a.m. to
12 p.m. on the Sounder

★ Develop study skills and
techniques
★ Develop effective test
taking and note taking skills
SELF-CONCEPT GROUP -
Many times, the way in which
we see ourselves is not always
the way we want to be. The
concept we have of ourselves
oftentimes affects the way we
behave. Focus of this group
will be:
★ Identify exactly what our
self-concept is
★ Examine what influenced
that concept
★ Examine ways to change
the concept
If you are interested in any of
these groups, contact the
Counseling Center in Bryan
Hall, Ext. 183, soon. Groups
will meet once a week at a time
most convenient for the
participants. Enrollment is
limited.

lectures, field trips, and a
special potluck dinner. He
will also speak on Friday
evening at 7:30 p.m. at Harrison
Auditorium at A&-T University.
He will also be featured on
Sandra and Friends on
Channel 2, and Southern Focus
on Channel 8. All Guilford
students and faculty are
welcome to attend and educate
themselves on herbs and teas.
