people a few times a week.
Act II is not a beer joint!"
There will be no cover

Quaker Weekend
in Fayetteville
Young Friends of Guilford
College are planning a week
end working visit to Quaker
House in Fayetteville,
February 11-13. Quaker
House, which is run by the
Piedmont Friends Fellow
ship, is a "half-way house"
and counseling center for
servicemen who are having
problems with the military. It
is located close to Fort Bragg,
the largest Forcecom (Contin
ental Army) base in the U.S.
Also nearby is Pope Air Force
Base.
The Guilford Group will
have a varied weekend. Friday
evening will include a tour of
Hay Street, the commercial
strip that services (or rips off,
depending on your point of
view) lonely servicemen. On
Saturday the group will tour
the bases and spend the rest
of the day working on fixing
up Quaker House. The work
will continue Sunday morning,
followed by meeting for
worship and a potluck lunch
with the Fayetteville Friends
Meeting.
Washington
Seminar
Meeting
The final meeting of the
members of the Washington
Seminar will be on Tuesday,
Feb. 1, 1977 at 5:15 p.m. in
the Founders Small Dining
Room.
The program and reading
material will be discussed and
transportation arrangements
will be completed.
The Seminar will be from
Feb. 6 - 11, 1977 and could
accept two or three more
members.
Any students who are inter
ested should come to the
meeting or contact the Center
For Off Campus Education,
21 Frazier.
Page 3
Participants will sleep in
sleeping bags on the floors
and will share in the prepara
tion of vegetarian meals. Any
one here in the Guilford
community is very welcome to
come for all or part of the
weekend. The trip is a good
opportunity to get away from
the college for a while, to learn
something about a form of
Quaker service in North
Carolina, to do some physical
work, and to get to know
some other Guilford people
better.
Anyone who is interested in
going should contact Muffin
McMullan in Dana House 1
(phone 855-6363) or Damon
Hickey in the Library (extension
264 or at home, 299-5882).
Make plans soon; the
Fayetteville people need to
buy food in bulk well in
advance.
Dance
Mid-Eastern dance in
America will be the topic at
the Guilford Colloquium on
Women as Shapers of
Culture at 3:30 p.m. Wednes
day (Feb. 2, 1977) in the
Gallery of Founders Hall at
Guilford College. The public
is invited.
Andrea Deagon will
demonstrate traditional and
contemporary dance forms
and will participate in a panel
discussion on the cultural and
personal values embodied in
dance technique.
Ms. Deagon, a humanistic
studies major at Guilford
College, has studies with
Linda Lichter and Marie
Juergenson and has
attended workshops with
Serena, Ibrahim Farrah and
Zeeba.
She is currently offering
classes in belly dancing at the
Greensboro YWCA and Lewis
Recreation Center in
Greensboro.
