STANFIELD In order to encourage academic development and to recognize students who contribute to the quality of life at Guilford, the Board of Visitors is inaugurating a Senior Excellence Award. The recipient is to be pre sented a beautiful silver medallion bearing the Guilford College seal on one side and having the name and date engraved on the reverse side along with the wording, "Senior Excellence Award, Board of Visitors." The presentation is to be made at a special dinner at which the members of the Board of Visitors and their spouses will be present. The selection of the recipient will be based on nominations submitted by secret ballot from students, faculty and staff. A Selection Committee composed of representatives from the Community Senate, the Dean of Students, board of Visitors and administration. The final selection will be made by the President upon recommendation from the committee. Ballots will be distributed through campus mailboxes. Balloting is to take place on April 4-6. The ballot boxes will be placed in Founders Lobby, the Urban Center Lobby, and in the Library. Everyone is invited to add his thoughtful comments on the ballot in support of his nominee for this Senior Excellence Award. Summer Employment Summer job analyses indicate that the prospects for college student employment for the summer of 1977 look promising. National parks throughout the nation will once again staff their facilities with college student summer time help. Opportunities appear to be expanding into many support accommodations and facilities surrounding the park areas. State parks also indicate a high demand for temporary summer employ ment by college students. Some national parks will hire as many as 3,000 college students for the summer period. Several hundred private camps throughout the nation will once again be seeking college student The Guilfordian Alumni/Parents Weekend Dance 0. ■ April 23 at 8:00 p.m. in Sternberger Auditorium . > J \ Support a Minority Bring your Parents Burt Massengale and his Orchestra (Why not dig out all those fancy duds you brought as a Freshman and never had a chance to wear?!) Outlook Good; summer employees in varied capacities as counselors, swimming instructors, music directors, and general activities such as maintenance, cooking, etc. Students with special talents in the area of entertainment or horse handling abilities should investigate these opportunities. Once again it is emphasized that students desiring summer employment in the various recreational areas throughout the nation should apply early. Students interested in obtaining additional detailed information may request a free brochure by sending a self-addressed stamped envelope to Opportunity Research, Dept.
