A Women's Coffeehouse,
sponsored by the Women's
Center, will be held on Friday,
December 9th at 8:15 p.m. in
the basement of Mary Hobbs
Hall. The Coffeehouse, which
will feature female performers
exclusively, and which has
been completely organized by
women, will be open to the
general public.
A variety of musical styles
can be heard at the Coffee
house, including folk, classical,
jazz, and contemporary
music. The performers include
Tamara Myers and Marsha
Halper, both juniors at
Guilford, Ruth Clott, a fresh
man music major, Susie
Gingrich, a senior in special
education, and Libby Win
chester, a former Guilford
student who has performed
around the Greensboro area.
Coffee and refreshments
will be served. Admission
is free, so feel free to join
us for an enjoyable evening of
music, women, food and fun.
Next week's Guilfordian
will be the last one of this
semester. Production will
resume on January 24 and will
maintain a regular weekly
schedule.
There will be a meeting
of the Campus Association of
Photographers Tuesday,
December 6 at 7:30 in the
Passion Pit. All members are
asked to please attend. It
will be short but informative
and several projects need
some help.
Women's Coalition ... is
sponsoring two women's prison
films, to be shown Thursday,
December 8, at 8:00 p.m., in
the Gallery, Founders Hall.
"Rime Has No Sympathy,"
explores the lives and feelings
of women in a California
county jail. In "We're Alive,"
a collective effort by women
from UCLA and prisoners in
the California Institution for
Women, prisoners openly
discuss problems in the prison
and California law and punish
ment.
Graphic artists, poets,
environmentalists: Biophile
Club is now beginning to
collect material for its 1978/
1979 calendar. We need small
black and white drawings and
short written pieces. For
more details, contact Charles
Haworth or Bobbie Jones. Let
us feature your art work and
ideas in our calendar.

ment Office is beginning to
receive announcements
concerning summer jobs.
Information about positions
with the U.S. Department of
Agriculture and Department
of Interior (Bureau of Land
Management and National Park
Service) have been received.
You must file application
forms between December 1,
1977 and January 15, 1978.
We have also received some
announcements about
summer camps, private park
jobs and Walt Disney World.
Party on skates: celebrate
the upcoming festivities at
the Holiday Roller Rink. The
Union's recreation committee
is sponsoring a roller-skating
party on Friday, December 9,
from 11 p.m. - 1 a.m. The
rink is at 4514 High Point Rd.
Volleyball Intramurals
are drawing to a close here at
the end of the semester. The
top teams in the Men's and
Women's Leagues have
been chosen according to their
overall record. Please see
your unit representative for
date and time of these final
matches. Good luck to each
team!
The Act Company: A pro
fessional theater company
sponsored by the United
Arts Council, will give two
performances of Edward
Albee's award winning drama
Who's Afraid of Virginia
Woolf." The play will be
presented on Saturday,
December 10, and Sunday,
December 11, at 2:15 p.m. in
Sternberger auditorium. Free
tickets (for Guilford students)
are available at the Informa
tion desk. Founders Hall.
This production marks the
beginning of the third year of
the Afternoon of Drama Series
offered by the Act Company
and the Arts Council.

Operation Crossroads
Africa. Are you interested in
spending the summer of 1978
in Africa, participating in
rural development and self
help workcamp? Richie
Zweigenhaft, of the Psychol
ogy Department, will present
a talk and slide presentation
on his trips to Togo in 1966
and Botswana in 1970 with
Operation Crossroads Africa,
and will explain how students
can apply to the program for
the coming summer. The talk
will be in The Gallery at
Founders Hall of the Guilford
College campus, Wednesday
night, December 7, at 7:00
p.m.
The Black Ideas Forum
of Guilford College presents a
program on the issues
surrounding the case of Allen
Bakke vs the University of
California - Davis. The issues
concerning the Bakke Case
and their implications for affir
mative action programs will be
discussed by Dr. Albert Spruill,
Dean of Graduate School, AST
State University and attorney
James Ferguson from Charlotte,
North Carolina.
The program is scheduled
for Wednesday, December
7, 1977 at 8:00 p.m. in the
Boren Lounge of Founders
Hall. The public is invited to

The Film Committee of the College Union has completed its
schedule of the Film Series for Second Semester. As in the
past, your Arts Series membership gives you admission to
all of these films at no additional cost, single admission charge'
for films is 25C for Guilford College students, 50C for other'
students and 75C for adults. All films will be shown in
Sternberger Auditorium except for the five indicated as "Dana."
We will try to notify you in advance if any changes in the
schedule occur.
