Senate is sponsoring an Open
Forum on the subject Wed
nesday, February 15 at 8:00
p.m. in the Gallery, Founders
Hall. All Community members
and concerned faculty are
urged to attend.

Jam with Sam: Sunday,
February 19, 8:00 p.m., Dana
Auditorium. The sixth
annual "Jam with Sam"
concert will be presented by
Sammy Anflick to benefit the
Muscular Dystrophy Associa
tion. The Honorary Chairman
will be Kathy Sebo and the
emcees are Susan Kidd and
Rick Amme from WFMY
TV. A fine range of music
from local musicians including
a jazz ensemble, Missouri
Hogshead, Don Heath
Quartet, a 50-voice chorus and
Dixieland. A limited number
of free tickets are available
at the Information Desk.

is a group of student volun
teers that has primary respon
sibility for the orientation of
new students to the Guilford
community. Any student

first floor of Bryan Hall to
pick up an applicaiton. All
applications must be filled out
and returned to Student
Personne no later than
Friday, March 3. Former
members of FAC who wish
to continue must reapply by
this date also.

staff to an open-house at their
studios in Founders Hall on
Thursday, February 16 at 8:30
p.m. Opportunities in the
staff include JD's with a third
class license, for whom we will
be having a class, production
work, news, and any other

to be directly involved with the

All Psychology Majors: On
Thursday, February 16, 1978,
5 alumni who hold bachelor's
degrees in psychology will
be visiting. Everyone who
is interested is invited to join
them for dinner in the small
dining room at 6:15 p.m.
and to meet afterwards in
Boren Lounge at 7:00 p.m.
for an informal talk. Each
alumnus is working in the
field of psychology and will
talk briefly on what he/she
is doing, how he/she got
where he is and the outlook
for the future. They will
entertain questions and look
forward to seeing everyone
there.

now possible. The city of
Greensboro is providing this
service free of charge. More
informaiton can be obtained
from Christel Lee, in the
Dean's office.
Summer State Internships:
The Placement Office has
received information on two
summer North Carolina
State internship programs.
One program is for residents
of the state only, the other
for students attending a
North Carolina college or who
are residents of the state.
Both programs provide a
stipend and involve work with
a state agency. They are
competitive programs. The
final aplication deadline is

Pat Adelberger needs
crutches badly for students'
injuries. Anyone who has
borrowed a pair of crutches
and/or would like to donate
crutches should bring them to
the infirmary as soon as
possible.
The Student Union Recre
ation Committee will present
a Guilford Ice-Skating Party,
Friday night, from 12 midnight
till 2 a.m. The cost is only
SI.OO for skates and two hours
on the ice. The event will
be held at Triad Arena - 825

magazine. Piper, is now pre
paring its main issue for 1977-
1978. This is one opportunity
to demonstrate your talent.
Due to our lack of funds this
year, there have been few
such opportunities. The
budget committee does not
seem to appreciate student art.
We do.
Our deadline for submissions
is March 3 (spring break).
Submissions may be placed
on the Publications door,
in Box 17712, or can be given
to any member of the Piper
staff: Ellen Boulle, Carla
Kosonen, Becca Newbold,
Roy Parkhurst.

ton Bureau of the Associated
Press, is truly a newsman's
newsman. Mears worked his
way up from a state corres
pondent, city bureau newsman,
to chief of the Associate
Press Senate staff and chief
political writer, to head
the Washington Bureau.
After winning the annual
AP Managing Editors Assoc
iation Award for coverage of
the 1972 presidential cam
paign, he went on to be
awarded the Pulitzer Prize for
coverage of the 1976 cam
paign. In this Arts Series
address, Walter Mears will
talk about "Carter, Congress
and Current Events in Wash
