.March 21.1978 Patrick History Lecture Dr. John W. Blassingame, a noted editor, author, Yale Professor, and Acting Chair man of Afro-American Studies will deliver the ninth annual Rembert Patrick History Lecture on Wednesday evening April 5 entitled, "Africa, White Churches, and the Evolution of the Slave Family." The lecture is open to the public and will be held in the gallery at 7:30 p.m. with coffee afterwards. The Patrick Lectureship, endowed by Mrs. Rembert- Ashes and Diamonds; Space and Raitt Spring is coming fast, and if you can't seem to settle down to study, the Student Union has plenty to keep you occupied! Tuesday night's film, Ahses and Diamonds, tells the dramatic story of Poland after World War 11. This poignant story of two brave Communist resistors who mistakenly kill the wrong men is realistic yet enjoyable. The moving anti political qualities of this por trayal of communist society imitated one of modern times film renaissances. To see Ashes and Diamonds, come to Sternberger Auditorium at 8:15 p.m. on Tuesday, March 28, Admission is 255. For only 25C more you can see one of the Sixties greatest science films, 2001: A Space Odyssey will be shown Friday, April 31 in Sternberger at 8:15 A & T Holds Women's Films The Commission on the Status of Women and the F.D. Bluford Library at ABT State University are co sponsoring a three-day seminar for women entitled "Women: Challenge for tomorrow." The first session is scheduled for Monday, April 3rd, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., and will feature a panel discussion on What is the Status of the Black Woman Today? In 1990? The second ' session on Tuesday, April 4th, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., will feature a film "The American Woman: Portraits of Courage" and a panel discussion. The Third session on Wed- Patrick as a memorial to her husband, a 1930 Guilford College graduate and former president of the Southern Historical Association, provides for a lecture each year by some distinguished historian qualified to speak in the areas of Negro History, Black Culture, Southern history, or Current Problems of the South. Certainly, Dr. Blassingame's own history is a fascinating and varied one. His books include Black New Orleans and The Slave Community p.m. Stanley Kubrick's master piece of the not-so-distant future is a unique story of man's conflict with his past as well as with other civili zations. It is technically superb and is both credible and incredible. Once you've seen 2001: A Space Odyssey, you will never forget it. Come get ready for Serendipity with this queen of blues, Bonnie Rait, and special guest star Catfish Hodge. nesday, April 5, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., will highlight a panel discussion entitled: Where do we go from here? This discussion will inlcude comments on the woman and career develooment. This seminar will be the first of a series of seminars that the Commission on the Status of Women and various com munity groups will be co sponsoring. There is no charge for the Seminar. On Tuesday, March 14, the fellowship of Christian Athletes presented the film, Brian's Song to the Guilford Campus. It was made available to the F.C.A.through Johnny Stewart. On Thursday, March 16, the Guilford College Christian Fellowship presented "Sermon on the Mount." This was accompanied with a printed self-test for evaluating your Christianity. These were made available through the efforts of Alina Lebrato. F.C.A. and G.C.C.F. are planning more activities for the month of April and invites everyone to attend and enjoy. F.C.A. meets on Tuesday at 10:00 p.m., G.C.C.F. on Thurs days, 10:00 p.m., both in Founders 203.
