Volleyball intramurals end; Winners crowned champion By VAN MASSEY Last week two top intramural volleyball teams from an original twenty-nine were determined and crowned champions. In the women's semifinal matches, both Shore teams had little trouble in overcoming the opposition. Shore A defeated Binford 11, 15-9 and 15-7. Shore B won over Bryan 3rd and 2nd South, 15-9, 15-8. In the championship match, Shore B, paced by Karen Tysinger and Annette Chilton, kept up with Shore A. The teams went into overtime, yet Shore A pulled out a 16-14 win. The momentum stayed with the latter, winning the second game and the championship, 15-9. The men's semifinals began with the victory of Milner 2nd South A over the Day Hops. The day stu dents were riddled with injuries even the coach being on crutches. They could not keep pace, however, with the strong Milner team which won the match, 14-16, 15-3 and 16-14. At halftime, High Point led the contest by 8 points, the Quakers decreasing the margin to a mere 2 points with 8 minutes remaining. Turnovers once again brought about the team's loss. In the final belaboring match. The Milner team swept the first game. In the last two games, Bryan played very carefully and followed the strong play of Mac Cheek to win the championship. Jorge Abogabir won the championship set of the BASIB backgammon tournament, beating Marci Brown two games straight Jorge won both games by ten stones. Because of the low turnout of players, the prize was $12.00, winner take all. Jorge won the finals, losing only his first game. Marci's two losses to Jorge were her only losses of the tourney.
