The locrosse team posted a victory of 27-6 in Charlotte
Woodruff leads

The Guilford College lacrosse
team traveled to Charlotte, N.C.
is a game against Emory and
Henry on Saturday April 21st.
The Quakers were victorious,
scoring 21 pints against Emo
ry's 6. Leading Guilford in the
scorebook was sophomore at
tackman David Woodruff with 6
goals. Co-captain Mac Cheek,
attackman Sandy Sheperd and
Midfielders Mike Smith, David
Frank, David Dillard and Mark
Farlowe also scored, leading the
team into victory during Satur
day's game.
Aside from winning, Guilford
meeting Emory and Henry was
a notable event in another
respect. It was the first lacrosse
game to be played in Charlotte.
The popularity of lacrosse is
seen more in the northern area
of the United States, where
several of Guilford's team mem
bers learned to play the game.

the Saturday's celebration
hoped that Guilford would re
turn next year, making the
event an annual occasion. This
would increase the growing
audience of lacrosse enthusiasts
throughout the South. Concern
ing Saturday's game, coach Bob
Malm commented that the team
needed the victory.
On Monday the 23rd, the
team plays Lynchburg before
traveling to VMI in their last
game on Wednesday the 25th.
The coach hopes to win these
last two games in an effort to
end the season with a respec
table record.
