Schooling
Education has been called the
key to the future. Will four
years in college introduce a
student to some of the realities
beyond college?
Guilford has the answer in its
Summer Schools and Semesters
Abroad programs. These intro
duce students to other cultures,
ways of life, and systems of
government while adding eight
hours to your college credit.
Most of the seven Summer
Schools Abroad visit more than
one country. Following is a
listing of the countries visited
by each Summer School abroad:
ENGLAND— one week in
France and five weeks in Eng
land; GERMANY four weeks
in West Germany and two
weeks in the German Democra
tic Republic; GREECE four
weeks in Greece and two weeks
in Italy.

Results in on Cambodian drive
Dear Editor:
We wish to express our
gratitude to all the members of
the college who made the
Cambodian fund raising and
petitioning drive so successful.
To each of you who contributed
time, energy, support, money,
and the cost of your lunches, we
offer our deep appreciation.
The success of the drive can
be measured by the amount of
money we collected and the
numbers of signatures on our
petitions. Please read the fol
lowing letter to AFSC for these
details.
May we come together as a
community whenever our assis
tance can be of help to others;
may we recognize that our
efforts do make a difference;
and may we continue to find
ways to respond to the over
whelming needs of Cambodia
(Kampuchea).
With many thanks,
Jackie Ludel

American Friends Service
Committee
Dear Friends:
We are pleased to enclose
checks totalling $1382.25 to be
used to support Oxfam's relief
efforts in Cambodia(Kam
puchea). The money was raised,
in part, by having students
declare that they would not eat
lunch for two days; for each of
the 421 students who chose not
to each those meals, we receiv-
EDUCATION -- one week in
France and Switzerland and five
weeks in England; and
FRANCE, SPAIN, and ISRAEL
spend the six weeks of study in
one country and but have the
opportunity for week-end travel
to others.
All the schools will have the
possibility of two and a half
weeks of independent travel
after the six weeks of study.
In a world that is rapidly
moving towards interdepen
dence and mutual relations in
business, commerce, and cul
ture, experience in other coun
tries could be valuable in the
future.
Students interested in study
abroad are invited to meet with
the leaders of Summer Schools
Abroad on Tuesday, December
4, from 6-8 p.m. in the Boren
Lounge in Founders Hall.
Ed $1.50 from our food service.
The remainder of the money
represents outright contribu
tions from students, faculty,
administrators, and staff mem
bers of the college.
In addition to raising money,
we have mailed petitions, sign
ed by more than 500 members
of our community, urging im
mediate and massive relief for
all Cambodians. The petitions
have been mailed to: President
Carter, Vice-President Mondale
(for the Senate), O'Neill
(for the House), United Nations
Secretary General Kurt Wald
heim, and the following delega
tions to the United Nations --
China, Thailand, U.S.A.,
U.S.S.R., and Vietnam.
We hope our efforts will add
to the growing worldwide
attempt to help the Cambodian
people.
