The enthusiastic fans responded to the team's hustle by helping pull the young team through. In the Pfeiffer game, Guilford Guilfyrdi#n was able to get a degree ot revenge on the Falcons, to whom they had lost four times last season. They were led in scoring by Senior Co-Captain Al King with 18 points. Tony Ray (15), Creg Sims (14) and Ben Barrett (10) were other double figure scorers. Sims led in rebounds with 9, and Ray chipped in 6 assists. In the Wingate game the Quakers used a second half surge to come from behind and defeat the Bulldogs. Ray and King led the way with 23 and 21 points respectively. The team had to use only seven players due to injuries to starters Sims and Jim Duncan. Geralds Owens, Mike Cordon, Co-Captain Sporty Jeralds and Ely Boone all played well in the victory. Coach Jack Jensen has been fairly pleased with his young Quakers and the leadership of Co-Captains Jeralds and King. The team is composed of one senior, three juniors, two soph omores, and five freshmen. Two players, Wayne Freeman (jr.) and Bill Thornberry (soph ), will not be eligible until December 20 because they are transfer students. Other results of Quaker games are a 76-75 overtime loss at Mars Hill, a 84-78 loss to Catawba, and a 85-80 overtime victory over Lenoir Rhyne.
