The campus was officially given their fieldhouse and pool and there was plenty of music and food for whoever wished to indulge. The week started off with a pie-eating contest. The one and only William Rogers took the first place spot after finishing off two hearty pies. The next evening the campus hosted a concert given by the group "Dixie Dregs" and spe cial guest "Fatboy." The music was good and the spirits high, which helped put the weekend off to a good start. There were little children with balloons, marching bands, and police (who were awaiting the arrival of the Governor). The Harvey Jung Golf tournament was under way and the alumni were breaking out the old tennis whites for the Faculty vs. Alumni and Varsity vs. Alumni tennis matches. The Ragan-Brown sports cen ter was dedicated at two o'clock by North Carolina Governor Hunt. He addressed a group of seven to eight hundred inside the fieldhouse.
