Now that we are back, we all are excited at the promise of a new semester. Some of us, specifically John, Kimberly and I have been in Greensboro this summer planning the upcom ing year. As the student body represen tatives I attended many functions this summer. In the early sum mer, I attended the Alumni Board Retreat in Boone, N.C. Where Homecoming plans where finalized and Alumni Weekend activities began to take shape. In early August, I went to Hound Ears, N.C.,for the Ad ministrative Council Retreat. This retreat was especially beneficial, because it gave me an opportunity to become better ac quainted with the College's Ad ministrator's. Hopefully, this will enable me to work with them more effectively during the com ing year. Finally, Student Services and the Senate sponsored a Leader ship Workshop, which was facilitated by Ken Schwab, Richard and Phyllis Taylor An invitation to meet the 1984 Distinguished Quaker Visitors "Strategies for World Community" Wednesday, September 12, 1984 11:00 am Stemberger Auditorium Photos by Becky Gunn flft* lipi|| Jody Ehgleby: Prof. Stoeson because I would like to see him in fangs and a cape. Claudette Franklin and Ann Devaney, the new student ac tivities director. This retreat in volved many leaders of Guilford clubs and organizations. From this retreat many good things have evolved. One of these is a new group called the Network, which addresses the concerns and problems that may arise in being a student organizational leader. This past Wednesday, we had our first Senate meeting. Usually the Senate does not meet until the end of September, but this year we felt an earlier start would be beneficial in both organization and planning. This year we have many dedicated and energetic people working in the community Senate, but we need your support and involvement too. Please fell free to come to any Senate meetings (Wednesdays 1:00, RM 203 Founders), or come by the Senate office. John, Kimberly and I are in the Senate office after lunch and dinner on weekdays. We look forward to getting to know you. Tom Jarrell President of the Community Senate
