• The Foundation for the Carolinas has announced the WILLIAM TASSE ALEX
ANDER SCHOLARSHIP FUND, which provides merit scholarships to under
graduate students primarily in the Field of education. Scholarship applicants must
meet the following criteria: 1. Must be rising juniors and seniors and must be full
time students; 2. Must be majoring in the field of education or taking courses
leading to a career in teaching; 3. Must be residents of Mecklenburg County, N.C. *
4. Must have an overall grade point average of 3.0 or better. Scholarships will range
form sl,oooto $3,500 at the discretion of the William Tasse Alexander Scholarship
Committee. Scholarships are designated only for tuition/fees and room/board.
Scholarships are for one year only but renewal is possible if satisfactory perform
ance is maintained. Deadline for applying is March 1,1991. If interested, please
contact the Financial Aid Office, ext. 354, for further info or application forms.

William T. Alexander must meet merit requirements for scholarships but are not
limited as to the field of study or place of residence.
• DELTA KAPPA GAMMA SOCIETY INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS:
The Alpha Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, a society of
women educators, has established an incentive Grant Fund for female students
preferably 25 years of age or older, enrolled in a teacher education program. For
the 1991-92 academic year, two grants of $350 each will be awarded. If interested,
please contact the Financial Aid Office, ext. 354, for application forms and
additional information.
• The RAPE/SEXUAL ASSAULT SURVIVOR SUPPORT GROUP will meet
every Monday from 4-5 p.m., in the Student Health Center.
• 1990-91 LOYALTY FUND PHONATHON: The student phonathon solicits
alumni and parent gifts every Sunday and Wednesday night between 6-9 p.m.
Febuary 6 through April 3 in the New Garden Board Room. Students earn $4 an
hour.
