Bill Burris, professor of political science; Carter Delafield, professor emeritus of English; Merry Moor Winnett, lecturer in art; Chris Gjording, professor of sociology/anthropology and peace studies; and Alan Kolp, pastor of First Friends Meeting in Richmond, IN, will share their experiences of life with cancer. The presentation, sponsored by the office of Campus Minis try, is free and open to the pub lic. Dean'swriting awards offered exploration, iliey should dis play the usual coherence and logic of scholarly work. The SSO Dean's Award for writing in aesthetics will be awarded to that essay which most elegantly and lucidly ad dresses, explores, and presents a specific correlation between form and content or form and function or style and content. Originality of perception and approach is encouraged. The SSO Dean's Award for scholarly /critical writing in the humanities is offered to sopho more through senior classes. There are two SSO awards for writing in the physical and natu ral sciences, one recognizing excellence in science writing for a general audience, the other for reporting scientific research which the author has done as a Guilford studenL Entries are due in Michael Stricland's box in Archdale by 4pm Friday, March 5. The meeting began with ex ecutive reports from Jen Hill and Jamie Whitehead. Jamie re ported that the town meeting has been postponed until the Sunday after Spring Break. Jamie re ported that applications for Judi cial Board are available at the information desk, and that Jud. Board interviews will be held on March 15-17. The OUT (Over, Under, and Through) constitution was the first project on the agenda. It was asked whether OUT might be willing to do some fundraising to help with costs. It was also suggested that they talk to other organizations about the costs of equipment and possible fund raising ideas. The Tri-Beta Biology Club con stitution was then discussed. The main question was the exclusivity of the club. The national organiza tion requires that members have a minimum GPA. The question was also raised as to why there could not just be a biology club, as opposed to a chap ter of Tri-Beta. The Tri-Beta sup porters at the meeting stressed that they are not exclusionary. They also stressed that is an honor to have a chapter of Tri-Beta at this school. The question was raised about officers in the club, and also about the idea to allow those who do not meet the GPA requirements to join the club as associate members, with Wedneday, starch 3 5:3* pm Mid-week Meet ing for Worship. It was clarified that people who are not mem bers of the national Tri-Beta could be members at Guilford. No consensus was reached on this issue, so discussion will con tinue next week. It was reported that the Women's Rugby Club had re ceived approval from the Ath letic department. Senate then approved the club's budget The next item on the agenda concerned the slate that had been found dumped in the woods.
