He was in charge of a Community Senate-run event sponsored by MTV called Rock the Vote. Through Rock the Vote, over 20% of the campus regis tered to vote, as well as al most a hundred students who were able to get absentee bal lots. Senate also distributed pamphlets around the school, and even drove Guilford vot ers to the Greek Orthodox Church throughout the day on November sth. Marasco was pleased with the partici pation of the Guilford Com munity: "Of course we wanted a larger turnout, but I'm happy with what we got." Marasco, like most of the Guilford student body, was given his first chance to vote for president on Tuesday. "It doesn't surprise me that Clinton won... based on the polls. The Guilfordian class she found that 80% of her class had voted. Gerlak, having recently arrived at Guilford from the Uni versity of Arizona, has found Guilford stu dents "more active and more aware of the is sues." Gerlak went on to talk about the impor tance of this election for college students. "Students need to be active. There are issues in Congress like the education policy, stu dent loans, grants, AmeriCorps, and Peace Corps, that directly af fect them."
