Cadre program goes online By Jon Hicks STArr WRITER Cadre, the summer pro gram that employs 70 students in 37 different positions across campus, began accepting stu dent applications on Friday, March 3rd. Students in Cadre work ten weeks, from May 15th to July 21st. They are allowed to take eight credit hours of courses during the summer for free, are compensated with minimum wage for the time worked, and are given free room and board. Students who apply must be in good academic standing and maintaining a 2.0 GPA. The eli gible student must also have cleared any business office and disciplinary holds against them. Graduating seniors and those who have participated in the program for two consecutive years are not eligible. The application process has been greatly streamlined from previous years. "I had to fill out a paper, return it through the mail, and go through an interview process," said Ben Marks, a se The Guilfordian News nior employed by Cadre last year. While technophobes may still use that method, the new procedure is paperless. A stu dent simply logs on to the Guilford website, clicks on "Community," and then logs in with his or her Notes ID and password. The process is described online, the different job descrip tions are listed, and the appli cation itself is available to be filled out.
