EDU) AND BEGIN YOUR GLORIOUS CAREER WITH AN AWARD WINNING NEWSPAPER Dear Students, I am writing this article to inform the students about CAB and what our goals for Serendipity are going to be for this year. CAB is a student run organization that provides a variety of quality entertainment for the student body. Our goal is to be able to entertain the entire student body and have events offered throughout the year that students want to participate in. Serendipity was originally a spring festival that’s purpose was to celebrate the spring and come to gether as a community that has a common purpose, getting their education. Through the years the emphasis on community has been lost and Serendipity has been considered a party where students dismiss their concern of safety toward others and themselves. Because of the actions that came with that mindset Campus Life has talked about discontinuing Seren dipity, but not without giving us the opportunity to bring it back to its original purpose, a positive community building experience, which Is what we are trying to do this year. We have received a lot of feedback on how the musi cians for Serendipity artists were picked this year for the poll. Back in the fall we accepted suggestions from the stu dents for the artists that they would like to come to Ser endipity. We ended up getting a diverse list of artists ranged in genres. Then we filtered the list because of budget re straints and scheduling conflicts and created a poll for the student body to vote on. We also have committee positions for each programming board. If you want to get involved in a committee (Music and Live which puts on live performances like comedians and the coffee house series. Specialty Programs which puts on game nights and movies. Ideas and Issues which brings speakers to provoke thought) e-mail cab@guilford.edu . Thaddeus Herz, President of CAB.
