Per copy 10c Now that the weather permits us to spend so much time out of doors, the question of keeping the campus clean assumes great importance. We all love our college; we are proud of her age and of her appearance, but our carelessness often causes her beauty to be marred. Have you ever seen boxes strewn arovmd in front of the building, or papers blown about over the back campus? If you have, did you pick them up, or did you leave that for some one else to do ? Outsiders judge the college by the appearance she pre sents, and of course we want others to see the best side, but apart from all foreign attitudes, does it not seem a desecration to have Salem’s grounds resemble those of a factory? Salem bears an old and respected name, but you are string from her a little of that respect she so richly deserves each time you contribute toward mak ing her present an untidy appearance. The campus is naturally a place of beauty, if you will only allow it to re main so. Now, the whole thing rests upon you. Others will be far more carrful if you take a definite stand in this matter, and do all in your power to make Salem’s campus as beautiful as it deserves to be.
