THE SALEMITE SOCIALS. Mary Lindsey Stafford went away, But she didn’t go to stay— To High Point on the jitney she went And with her cousin the week-end spent. Mrs. L. L. Moore, of Taylorsville, has been visiting her daughter. Miss Eliza Gaston Moore. While in the city Mrs. Moore attended the Sunday School Convention. Mrs. E. R. Kirk and daughter. Miss Hazel, arrived Saturday morning to be present at the graduating recital of Miss Dorothy Kirk. It’s such a long ways from Salem to Macon, And Mary Lou was tired of apples and bacon. So off to Fayetteville she did hie, And gained ten pounds eating pie. A SEVERE CASE OF ABSEND- MINDEDNESS. Miss Ethel Cox spent last week-end in High Point with her sister, Mrs. T. V. Rochelle. Miss Rosa Caldwell is spending the week-end at her home in Concord. She motored down with Mr. and Mrs. Ben Mathews, and will return to school Sunday aftsrnoon. Margaret Whitaker’s father spent Wednesday in Winston-Salem. Miss Ruth Womelsdorf of Carters- ville, Ga., is visiting Miss Alice Dunklee. JOKES. E. Lindsay: “What?” Mary Alta: “A pin from Vassar my beau just sent me. \ou know he goes up there.” A student in History 6 who returned to Salem last Wednesday morning for the express purpose of attending that class, falling prey to that dread dis ease forgetfulness, spent the entire class hour in her room chatting with a friend.
