CHAMPION SHOWS HOW I , , _ , COURTESY JOURNAL-SENTiNEL Miss Myrtle Miller, extreme right, shows Muriel Brietz, Bootie ITutchison, Doris Martin and Ann Whal ing how easy it is to make a bulPs eye. CHAMPION CONDUCTS ARCHERY CLASS Again the Athletic Association has sponsored a visit on our campus of a well-known sports-woman. Mrs. Myrtle Miller, international archery champion, spent three days this week at Salem. Wednesday after noon she gave a demonstration of proper arehery technique and then assisted a number of the girls in correcting their arching. Wednesday night in the Old chapel, Mrs. Miller gave a short lecture on archery, illus trated by movies. Thursday and Friday morning she gave instruction in the regular gym classes, while in the afternoons, she held special ses sions for any and all who were inter ested in perfecting their archery, or beginning the sport. She is naturally an excellent archer and her attrac tive personality surely helped her make a number of converts on Salem’s campus to her chosen sport. Thank you, A. A. Council, for secur ing her for us. BEAUX AND ARROWS (Continued From Page Three) number! Maybe you just didn’t give him enough time — his name is Pokey, you remember ... SPIRIT OF GOOD WILL WRITES LETTER TO SALEM COLLEGE (Continued From Page One) Then too, I looked on the bulletin board and saw a lovely picture with a poem beneath it. I know lots of times that a minute spent read ing that poem would help raise even my spirits: and, another thing I saw was the “V Store.” That, it seems, would appeal to everybody, and I think it is a fine thing for the girls to liave a [vlace to get food anytime they want it. Even spirits like that! I could ramble on telling you more and thanking you more for a lon^f time yet but I think probably most of you know what the “ Y ” is do ing. They tell me that every Salem girl is a member of the “ V”, so 1 have everyone of you to thank for help'ng to S)iread liappine.-s and good-will.
