ATHLETIC ANNOUNCEMENTS The quarter finals of the tennis tournament are to be completed this week, thus leaving the semi-tinals and finals to be played ot¥ next week. The time of these matches will be announced in -chapel so that anyone interested in watching them may do so. The Winston-Salem Horse Show will be held next Friday and Saturday at the Polo fields. A group of Salem riders will attend the meet, although none of them will participate in it. The car will be dry ied and you will plunge into the desert. At eleven o’lock P. M. you will stop in Death Valley for a tepid coco-cola, and you will help the filling station attend ant rejoice over the fact that it’s only 117 degs. whereas it was 130 degs. during the afternoon. In fact you will feel so cool that you will dispence with the dry ice and revel in the warmth that jumps up off the highway and smacks you in the face. Four hours later you will arrive in Los Angeles where you will spend the next two hours viewing the city in scarch of the hotel. You will cor ner all the paper carriers, street cleaners, and patrolmen, but they would rather have you find the hotel yourself, so that’s precisely what you’ll have to do. Finally you will attain your goal, and there you will make immediate reservations for the next plane homeward—which will leave at five forty-five A. M. —so you’ll have to hustle to make it. On your way back home you will give yourself a resume of your west coast excursion and hope ma hasn’t thrown away her heavy coat before she reached San Francisco . . .
