CHRISTMAS SPIRIT
PREVIEWED BY
SALEM ACADEMY
The Academy again this year did
its part to keep a few Salem girls
•from postponing Christmas shop
ping until Christmas Eve by opening
its Christmas Bazaar, Friday from
3:30 until 9:00. For most people
not having yet recovered from
Thanksgiving and with pre-Christ
mas tests staring them in the face,
a Christmas store nearby was what
was needed to make most realize
that Christmas is actually less than
three weeks away. The gifts were
from Ideal, Vogler’s, and Sosnik’s.
The senior class of the A'cademy
with the co-operation of these stores
sponsored the bazaar. A per cent
of the profits will go to the senior
class.

MORINI THRILLS
CONCERT AUDIENCE
(Continued from Page 1)
she is just a child prodigy grown
up. Her playing has maturci and
improved since bIic begun lior con-
cort career at the ago of eight un-
til now she is ranked one of the
four greatest living violinists. She
is very pretty in a short, plump,
Italian way, although the foot
lights did her injustice.
Miss Morini played her concert
on an interesting, old Stradavarius
violin, which is dated 1727 and
valued at forty-five thousand dol
lars. She uses this violin only for
concert work and has another in
strument for practicing.
Miss Morini took many liberties
in her playing. For instance, she
rested her ear on the chin rest of
the violin, and she kept her eyes
closed all the time she was playing.
She made no attempt to win the
audience with her personality—she
merely walked on the stage and
started to play and the audience
was won by her music.
