Page Four. THE SALEMITE March 14, 1947. Freshmen Beat Seniors In First Tournament Game Tlie first game of the basketball' tournament, Freshmen vs. Soniors, was played Thursday night, March 13. The game ended with the score 27-20 in favor of^the Freshmen. During the first three quartern the lead boundel back and forth be tween the two teams, with each team allowing equal,skill and team work. In the last quarter, the Fresh men began showing their strength and took the lead-holding it until the end. High scorer for the Seniors was Hallie McLean and for the Fresh men, Beverly Johnson. Outstanding guarding technique was shown by Quinerly and Roberson. Fine spirit and cooperation was shown by all the players. Bullock eg Sargent c.f. lleitman l.g Nurses Speak To Students Miss Eleanor Lee, Assistant Pro fessor of Nursing at the Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing which is an affiliate of Columbia Univer sity in New York, will be on campus Monday to t.alk with anyone who is interesting in Nursing or any re lated careers such as medicine, nu trition, medical secretarial work, and various specialized therapy fields. Miss Lee will address a group of faculty advisers while she is here. Miss Alarie Buckley of the Van derbilt School of Nursing was here yesterday interviewing students in terested in medicine and related fields. Two Groups To Hold Forum An open forum on the Palestine situation will be held Wednesday evening at fi;45 in the living room of Bitting. This ineeting is being sponsored by the International Eo lations Club and the Y. W. C. A. Principal speakers will be Rabbi Engle from Greensboro and Eabbi Rosenthal from Winston-Salem. They will be introduced by Alice Gold berg, president of the Jewish Girls of Winston-Salem and a day stu dent at Salem College. A panel dis cussion will be held after the .talks, and refreshments will be served at the end of the meeting. C. was elected president of the 1947-’48 Athletic Association, defeating Is abelle Leeper and Sarah Clark in elections Tuesday morning. Ann is an active participant in a majority of campus organizations. Since her freshman year, she has shown in terest in hockey, basketball, tennis, swimming and horseback-riding. She became a member of the Athletic As sociation her Sophomore year as swimming manager, and this year she served as treasurer of the as sociation. Also she was basketball manager for her class in 1946; she won third place in the horse show, 1946; she has been on varsity basket ball and hockey teams. Ann is a member of the Salemlte staff, sec retary of the French Club, secretary of Pierrettes and Junior Class rep resentative to the Judicial Board.
