Qabs On Chic Satin Goivn
That old saying “anything goes”
seems to be the byword of U. S.
women designers. Your old shop-
ing hand went shopping in Winston-
Salem this week for the purpose of
“window shopping” for Salemites.
Never have my poor eyes had such
a feast. That “New Look” really
prevails over most of the shops in
the twin city.
Montaldo’s is featuring the four
teen inch hem line, and will measure
your dresses exactly that. Up
stairs in the College Shop are found
what the budget shopper would call
“buys”. They have a clever little
black satin suit with wonderful
“Back Interest” for only $29.95.
The little suit-dress also comes in
grey and green. You will love
their corduroy lall purpose coats in
delightful colors, good for rain or
shine, dress or school, and only $35.
This swing-tail coat also comes in
two-tone wool. The hood is cocoa
brown and the coat green. Mon

erina outfits which are inexpensive
enough for a college girl’s pocket-
book.
As you continue down the street,
a smart looking pair of grey shoes
in The Guild House catches the eye.
Low heels and three straps. > They
have wonderful big roomy bags to
match.
Sosnik’s has an unusual array of
costume jewelry. A beautiful jew
eled necklace with earbobs and
bracelet to match can be found in
various and solid colors. Sosnik’s
also has some very smart looking
skirts, a little expensive, but so
chic. One beautiful plaid looks like
an autumn rainbow and would be
just the thing to team up with
cashmere sweaters or Gibson girl
blouses. They are expecting a new
shipment of cashmere’s and hope to
have them in newer colors.
Davis’ has some very inexpensive
suede bags. One of the most at
tractive is shaped like a small hat
box. Tricky, and under $10.
