Levering Speaks
In Chapel
“Which Way to World Peace?”
was the question posed to Tuesday’s
chapel-goers by Mr. Samuel Levering,
Chairman of the Administrative
Committee of the World Federal
ists of North Carolina.
Mr. Levering, who runs an apple
orchard in Virginia for a living and
devotes the major part of this time
and money to the promotion of world
peace, pointed out the necessity of
America’s facing the two predomi
nant realities of the times: the want
and suffering of the world and our
power struggle with Russia.
Rejecting as both undemocratic
and impossible the power solution
of compulsory domination through
heavy armament, he proposed an an
swer based on the Christian princi
ples of love and just law—love thro
ugh sharing, and law through a char
ter revision that would enable the
United Nations to enforce an inter
national law applicable to individuals
rather than nations.

The “A” Team beg»n its play
on January 13, which date must have
been unlucky, for the team lost to
the Hanes Knitters by the score of
40-78. The “A” League is ii much
faster league than the “B”, and
'the team will have to buckle down
and play “heads up” ball in order
to come through with some wins. A
hard schedule of eight games re
mains ahead for the “A” Team.

The “A” Team is composed of:

entire “B” Team acting as sub

The' Team is still functioning as
a complete unit, however, and sev
eral outside games on tap in the
near future. A game is scheduled
for January 17 against the Old Rich
mond All Stars to be played at the
YMCA Gym. Tentative games are
in the mill against Mayodan “Y”
and the faculty. The latter game
should furnisli much interest and in-
tertainment to the Salem Campus.
The Salemite will publish the re
sults of the games to be played in
tlie ensuing weeks.
