Many servicemen were released for the same reason. One-third of all the people in the United States are ill for some reason 'or other. Many of these patients have emotional conflicts rather than physical ones. There are at present over 600,000 people in our country’s mental institutions. There would be more if facilities were available. He further commented on the enormous number of alcoholics and near-alcoholics in the nation. The chief cause of alcoholism is the “unsolved problem back of the in satiable desire for drink”. He stated that it has been proved that the most frequent cause for divorce in one out of every five marriages is the emotional im maturity of one or both of the people involved. Fifty-two per cent of the people in the United States suffer from insomnia. Rev. Peace stated that this situ ation of widespread emotional in stability comes about when “we are enjoying the greatest material pros perity we have ever had.
