October 6,1978, Page 4 James Donlon performs: above, “Chess” right Mime Theatre James Donlon, in ternationally recognized mime and current faculty member at the North Carolina School of the Arts, has performed for univer sities, high schools, and arts councils since 1970. This past Tuesday Salem College was the beneficiary of Mr. Donlon’s many talents. After an afternoon workshop he performed for a large and enthusiastic audience in Hanes auditorium. He has toured his one-man shows in Europe, was invited to perform at the 1974 International Mime Festival, and has been director of mime instruction for the Ringling Brothers, Barnum & Bailey Circus. He has also guest taught at several professional theatre schools including the Asolo State Theatre Company of Florida. James Donlon is considered by many to be one of the most versatile artists in mime today. News Beyond The Square Vatican City • Cardinals of the Roman Catholic Church have returned within a month to the rituals involved in the task of electing a new Pope. They set the funeral of Pope John Paul I for October 4 and the con clave to elect a new Pontiff for October 14. It appears that the site for the conclave will again be the Sistine Chapel. Middle East: Israel - The historic Knesset Debate on the Camp David accords proved to be favorable toward an Egyptian-Israeli Peace Settlement. Egypt ■ President Anwar Sadat said Monday that President Carter has accepted an invitation to attend the signing of the Egyptian-Israeli peace treaty. Wash. - U.S. Authorities said any visit by Carter to Egypt depends on how quickly Egypt and Israel can forge a treaty to end the 30 years of Middle East Wars. - Talks are to open at the ministerial level in Washington October 12 with a projected settlement by December 17. The United States will be a full par ticipant. - There are still some reservations over the Camp David accords among other Arab countries.
