by Debbie Cates Whether your idea of a much deserved Spring Break dream vacation is basking in the tropical sun surrounded by great looking men, swishing down Colorado ski slopes surrounded by great looking men, or managing to have a wonderful time on a minimal budget surrounded by great looking men, it is definitely not too soon to begin planning and booking your Spring Break vacations. There are basically three approaches you can take to planning your dream vacation. First, there is the traditional way. Go to a travel agent. Tell her where and when you want to go and let her do the rest. 1 recommend this approach for those of you who have unlimited budgets or who are not interested in spending spring break at destinations, where lots of other college students may ! be. Second, you can take advantage of some of the unbelievable deals put together by travel experts who specialize in sponsoring trips which are especially designed for college students. I recommend this approach for those of you who are planning on spending some spending spring break at destinations where lots of other students will be. The third approach is to take a serious look at the minimal funds you have and get very creative in stretcWng your vacation dollar to the max. If you fit into either the second or third category...READ ON. WHERE DO I RND OUT ABOUT THE UNBELIEVABLE DEALS AVAILABLE FOR COLLEGE STUDENTS? Every year the Student Activities Office receives several trip proposals from various companies which are created especially for college students. I have them on file in my office and will be happy to share them with you and assist you in signing up for them. Some examples of the destinations and prices are listed below. Spring DESTINATIONS: Canctm .$425 Bahamas .$499 Jamaica. - .$469 Bermuda .$450 Student only cruise $399 (Tampa/Cancun/Cozamel) Ski Steamboat $549 Q^ou are coriRaCCy invited to attend of SaCem Square on OdpvemSer 6,1989 at 1:30 p.m. in the Square. il(aindate Vdpvemher 8, 1989. you must gather the appropriate number of friends to accompany you on your trip in order not to pay extra for double or triple occupancy. Second, you must make your plans early and pay your! deposits, usually before Christmas to avoid first of the year increases.— So, start talking to yoiu- friends and family now about your plans for Spring Break and don't forget that Christmas isn't far away and Santa is often happy to help out with spring break trips. GATHER YOUR GROUP AND SEE ME IN LEHMAN HALL FOR FURTHER INFORMATION ON THESE SPRING BREAK DEALS. All of these packages include air transportation (except the cruise) and lodging accommodations. Additionallj well as other amenities such as planned activities at the destination, discount coupon books and on sight assistance by a representative of the sponsoring company are included. The Steamboat trip also includes five days of lift tickets. The key to taking advantage of these bargain trips are twofold. First, they are based on a minimum of quad occupancy, or putting the maximum number of persons in a lodging unit. So, WHAT SUGGESTIONS DO YOU HAVE IF I MUST PLAN MY TRIP ON A MINIMAL BUDGET? One creative alternative for a low budget vacation is to consider a camping vacation. Since the major expenses incurred on a vacation include transportation, lodging, and meals the budget traveler can keep these costs to a minimum by using their car for transportation, a tent for lodging, and a cooler to keep store bought food. You need not own lots of equipment or be an experienced outdoors person to enjoy a camping vacation. With a little cash and a few supplies, the budget traveler Ccin go almost anywhere she wants. Though many people expect to drop upwards of $1(XX) for a week vacation, the savvy traveler does not have to. Remember it is not too soon to finalize your plans for spring break so get busy and start making your plans. Those gorgeous men are already making their plans, so if you want to "where the boys are," sign up today! In order for students to get coimected with others who are interested in traveling to specific destinations, a sign up sheet will be posted outside my office in Lehman Hall. If you are planning on going to a specific location and dare looking for others to join you, please sign the list on my bulletin board. If you are looking for a group to go with please look on the board and contact others who are going there. This can act to everyone's advantage. If there are a large number of students who want to take a specific trip we can perhaps negotiate even better deals, so if you are going, or want to go, get your name on THE LIST today!
