Brethren Attend
Unique Meeting
In S. Carolina
Several of the brethren from
Albemarle and Stanly Lodges
went to Traveler’s Rest, S. C., on
Friday night, September 18 for
the annual exemplification of
the Master Mason’s Degree
staged by the lodge at that place.
Every year Masons from many
sections of North and South
Carolina go to Traveler’s Rest
for this occasion, and those who
attended from Albemarle say
that it was one of the most im
pressive rituals they have ever
observed.
The communication was held
in the shaft of an old mine,
many feet under the surface of
the earth, and the lighting pro
vided an excellent setting for the
work of the degree.
"I have attended many lodges,”
said one local man, “but this
was the first time I have attend
ed one in a setting like this. I
wish more of us could have at
tended, for it was certainly worth
going a long way to see.”
Ladies' Night To
Be Observed On
Saturday, Nov. 7
Saturday night, November 7,
has been selected as the date for
the annual Ladies’ Night of Stan
ly Lodge No. 348, and the event
will be held in the basement of
Masonic Temple in Albemarle.
Albemarle Lodge No. 703 has
been invited to join in the ob
servance of the evening, and the
invitation was accepted with
thanks by the officials of that
group. Consequently, one of the
largest attendances on record is
expected for the occasion.
Wives of members and widows
of deceased members will be
honored at this time, and gifts
will be provided for all ladies. In
addition a program of entertain
ment will be provided.
John M. Ross of Stanly Lodge
is in charge of arrangements,
working with a committee ap
pointed by the lodge.
“We are going to try to make
this the best Ladies’ Night we
have ever held,” said Mr. Ross.
“We are glad that Albemarle
Lodge has joined with us for this
occasion, as it will bring Ma
sons of both groups into closer
contact with each other and help
to broaden the fine spirit of co
operation which now prevails be
tween the groups.”
Bro. Thompson,

Bro. Albert J. Thompson, oper

Bro. Snyder Is
Elected Head
Ministers' Group
Rev. D. K. Snyder, member of
Yadkin Falls Lodge at Badin,
and pastor of Badin Presbyterian
Church, was honored recently
when he was elected chairman
of the Stanly County Ministerial
Conference.
This conference is made up of
ministers from all sections of the
county. Regular meetings are
held, at which time matters af
fecting the spiritual welfare of
the people of the county as a
whole are discussed.
Bro. Snyder has been a mem
ber of Yadkin Falls Lodge for
many years, and is held in high
esteem by Masons over the coun

real principles of the fraternity.
Illness Strikes
Three Members
Of Local Lodges
Two members of Stanly Lodge
No. 348 are recovering nicely aft
er recent sieges of illness. These
are Bros. Hugh E. Almond and
S. Wolf.
Bro. Sam W. Barrier, of Albe
marle Lodge No. 703, is also re
cuperating nicely from an illness
of several weeks duration.
Bro. Herman Crisco, Master of
Stanly Lodge, entered the Stan

Dean Asks For
Big Attendance
From Lodges
Nat C. Dean, D.D.G.M., has an
nounced that the District meet
ing for this area will be held
with Biscoe Lodge in Montgom
ery County on Friday, October
23, with a session beginning at
5 p.m.
Supper will be served at 6
o’clock, and the lodge will con
vene at 7 o’clock, according to
Bro. Dean.
“This will be the first time
Biscoe has entertained the lodges
of this District,” said Bro. Dean,
“and they tell me they are go
ing all out to make it an occa
sion to remember. The commit
tee on arrangements has prom
ised a feed that will please
everyone, and they are hoping
that the biggest crowd to attend
a district meeting in years will
be on hand to enjoy it.”
The aluminum gavel, now held
by Albemarle Lodge No. 703, will
again be presented to the lodge
sending the largest percentage
of its membership to this meet
ing. Competition for the gavel
is expected to be very keen, in
asmuch as the short distance to
Biscoe makes it possible for any
one to attend without inconven
ience.
“Start making your plans now
to attend this meeting,” said
Bro. Dean. “Let’s make this one
of the biggest to be held in the
state this year. You may be sure
that the brethren at Biscoe will
go all out to make you feel wel
come and have a good time.”
Stanly Lodge Has
Five Candidates
Taking Degrees
Stanly Lodge No. 348 now has
five candidates for the various
degrees, and were slated to con
fer the degree of Master Mason
upon two candidates on Friday
night, October 2.
This is a continuation of the
work that has been done by the
lodge for the entire year, leading
to a belief that this will be one
of the biggest years on record so
far as degree work is concerned.
We are looking forward to our
annual Ladies’ Night on Novem
ber 7, in which we will be join
ed by Albemarle Lodge No. 703.
Entertainment for the evening
will be sponsored by the latter
group, and it is believed that
this will be one of the most en
joyable events of recent years.
We are planning to send a
large delegation to the District
Meeting to be held with Biscoe
Lodge on Friday night, Oct. 23.
