N, Y, A, not only helps the school, but it is also a great help to the students who are fortimate enough to secure jobs under its administration, ' } Three of these students, | Evelyn Stott, Mozelle Cooper,and i Sadie Wells, have jobs in the ‘ school cafeteria, Marie High works as helper under Mr, Walker in his oi'floe. Besides giving Mr, Y/alker more time out of his office, it is giving Marie valuable experionce. LUNCH ROOM SERVES TWO ! HUNDRED DAILY j Mozelle Cooper I This year the lunch room is ! under the direction of the W,P,A. aided in the operation by N.Y.A, workers. In charge of the room is Mrs. Percy iviurray assisted by Maggie Lee Glover, Ruby Perry and Mrs. Wade Jouner. Three N.Y.A, girls work two hours each day„ At the present there are over two hundred pupils and teach ers served daily. One himdr e d and fifty of these taka plate lunches, consisting of two vege tables, bread, and dessert sold at five cents per plate. In order to secure W.P.A, support a number of free lunches must be served daily to under nourished children. SEMI-»PRIVACY ASSURED STUD^^NTS S. High To add to the attractiveness and convenience of Bailey's great ly improved school building,there has been purchased recently forty lockers for the high school. The Nash Coiinty Board of Sducatio n made the purchase of the lockers pOJGible by asking the County Commissioners to provide in the county budgot under the title of Capital Outl.'iy a suan for perma nent improveiients to schools. Under the direction of Mr, Howton^ Agriculture supervisor, the P„ A, students of Bailey will assemble and install the lockers in the hall on the second floor, Mr, Walker states that the size of the lockers is sufficient to serve three or four high school pupils, The students of Bailey High School are discussing enthusias tically the advantages of seme- privacy offered bjy these lockers, Maebelle Bissette Physical Education period on Tuesday of each week is used by the high school girls as a period for basket-ball practice. Two members of last year’s squad, Maet* belle Bissette and Estelle Eatmon, also five of lagt year’s substi tutes, Josephine Lnmm Mary E.Jone^ Isabelle Vick, Marie Morgan, and Rachel Jones, are entering into basket ball practice with much en thusiasm this year. National Registration Day, October 16, found the schools of Bailey and Mt, Pleasant ceased while the teachers of both schools gave their service free to aid in the registration of all men from 21 to 36* The number of registrants in the Bailey precinct were 334,
