September,1941 ra'Sto ADDITONAL COURSES PROVIDED FOR BAILEY HIGH COMMER.CIAL DEPT, ADDED Ably headed by their teacher, the commorcial students at Bailey High School have begun tho year in fine spirit. In tho class, composed of tv/elfth graders and post graduate students, are Mary Elizabeth Jones,Lo- ron Ray, Magdaline Dow, Lizzie Liao Hanning,Ilavis Francis, Rubye Lamra, Jo sephine Lamm, Ilaobclle Bissette, Sidney Jones, and Evelyn Stott. Subjects offered in the commercial departmcntaro typing, shorthand, book keeping, and general bus iness. The teacher, Ilrs. Lass iter, reports excellent progress in all studios, expedally typing. Rachel Jones, Marks Un- derv/ood, Mario Morgan, Christine Pinch and Hor ace Meacomes, students, from tho eleventh grade, take tho typing course. NEW LUNCH ROOM OPENED Last sunnner Ur. V/alker and his defense class transformed the balcony of tho auditorium into a now, attractive and lar- ENG. DEPARTMENT REQUIRES MINIMUM ESSENTIALS The English department of the school decided last week to introduce a program of minimum gram mar essentials in all English Glasses of the high school. Each ■ stu dent v;ill be required to have a working Icnowlodgo of a few necessary rules before being allowed to pass tho course. Such rules as agroomont of subject and verb,of pro- moun and an t e do :i t, Ti 1 - imination of fragment - ary and run together son tonces, simple punctua tion, and simple spoiling rules will be required. ger R T. For a nickel a well balanced pla.to of vogotables, meat, and sv/oets may bo had. To provide cold storage Mr. A.B. Farmor gave this summer a Kolvinator for tho lunch room.
