BAILEY BUGLE NEW EQUIPMENT OBTAINED Octobor 17f 194] BASKET-BALL PRAC TICE BEGUN Practice for the com ing basketball season started with a "bang" on I.Ionday, October 13, v/hen the pupils going out for basketball met in the gym% All the boys who played last year with the excep tion of James Bro'-TO are back again, end they have the same determi nation that they so admirably showed last year* The girls were cast ing dismal glancos at each other because of the loss of two of the star guards of last years team* These girls, Josephine Lamm and Mary E, Jones, have played their four years limit permitted by the county regula tions* Ninth grade girls v;ill be select ed to take their place. COACHES NAMED r.Ir. Ca'rl K« Walker and Llr. Henry E.Rogers have been announced as the official basket - ball coaches for the *41-'42 season. Hiss Lackey will at tend the gaines away from home as first-aid director and 'chaperon for the girls* V/AKTED: MORE SPORTSMAHSHIP III THE ATHLETIC CLUB. BETTER ATTENDANCE AT PRACTICE PERIODS. FOR ATHLETICS COUNTY SOFT-RML TOUKNEY CUT SHORT Thursday afternoon, Oct, 9, 1941,the Bailey High P.F.A* soft ball team was put out of the county tourney as a result of two games played at Middlesex* Getting off to a rot ten start,Bailey lost the first game 13-0. In the second game they showed great e r courage, but lost 2-1* In the first game Bobby Stott and Rifch- ard Stott were the batteries for Bailey, Finch and Rittonbury for Middlesex; in the second grjiio H*Laram and R*Stott for Ballc y , Finch and Berkley for Middlesex* STUDEIITS ARE URGED TO PAY ATHLETIC FEES Students going out for basketball are asked to pay their athletic fee as early as possible* ' Tlio fee is 75;?^, same as last year* SHUFFLE - BOARD INTRODUCED Approximately $75 worth of equipment for tho spcrts'-idiiidod stu dents of Bailey High was purchased during the sumraer by the ath letic coaehcs. One game, shuffle- board, that is new to many of the students, is being taught. It is played on the walk between the school building and the gym- nasi-um* The goal in the game is to shbvc disks along the *.;alk in an attempt to roach certain marks. Tvv'o basketballs, one dozen soft ball bats, and six soft balls Y/ere bought.
