WHY NOT ‘CLEAN-UP WEEK"?
- If "Cleanliness if, next to Godli
ness" Bailey school doesn't rank
very high, A housekeeper is judged
by her house; in the saine v/ay stu
dents are judged by their school.
In his home a student doesii't make
it as unattractive as possible by
throv/ing paper on the floor. '.Vith
waste baskets in every room there
is no need for popsicle bags and
sticks and scrap paper to be scat
tered throughout the*building, why
not make the week of October 20-24
"Clean-up Week"? With full coopera
tion from- the student body Bailey
can be brought up to the same level
as the cleanest school in the
county.
BETTER ATTENDANCE
BADLY NEEDED
Unless attendance improves the
school can't possibly gain a much
needed new teacher in the grammar
grades or even retain the pros’ont
ni.unber. For the first four weeks
the school ran on a short schedul e
to enable students to help at home
but even then there were over 800
absences. Since the busiest seasoH
is over, work at home can't be used
as an excuse. By having additiona. 1
teachers the classes are smaller
thus benefiting the individual even
more than the school. In order to
prevent a return to the crowded con
ditions of past years attendanc c
must be better,
IDLE LOCKERS SHOULD 8E
PUT INTO SERVICE
At the expense of three or -'four
hundred dollars the county in
stalled lockers in high s.chool last
winter. After the enthusiasm of
getting -them died dovm, the students
used them very little. Unless a
thing is used it is of no practical
value. Keeping a few books in the
lockers can save time in changing
classes. If the students begin us
ing them, they will soon find that
they can hardly do without them.
DEAR EDITOR:'
For the past, several years new
shades for the library have been
needed badly.
Even when Mr. Williams was princi
pal here, supervisors visiting the
library mentioned the shades. I
would like especially to see
purchased this year new shades for
the library.

CHALLENGING THOUGHTS
The best way out of a difficulty
is through it.
Every impression brings forth an
expression.
No woman really makes a fool out
of a man. She merely gives him an
opportunity to develop his natural
capacities.
A pet on the back develops char
acter, if administered young enough.
