January 12. 1942 BAILEY 8UGLE PaRe 5 Enrollment Of &\iley High Changes Little As"school begins af ter Christinas holidays are over,something un usual takes place in Bailey High. Every year new students are gained and old stu dents lost. This year only three new stud ents have enrolled in high school. To Join the freshmon clc.s3 en ters Howard Barnes, hailing from Weldon High School. Also in the eighth grade are Hildred Joyner, .'from Rock Ridge, and Ivan Denton of Spring Hope School. Absent from the senior class is Hayes Flora and from the eighth, Marie Murray. The other grades have made no changes in their enrollment. First Aid Class Studies Bandages In line with defense the first aid club is novtr practicing the various methods of bandaging the dif ferent parts of the body in case of injury. Miss Lackey has pur chased for the club several types of band-- ages and gauze. The club is now studying the types of bandages and how to -use them for different kinds of wounds. In 'conncction with this study the chapter on Wounds has been assigned for the next meeting. Defense Regi5tr3- lion Dis^opointing ■ The call for saving America and its ideals rang out to the Br.iley people as well as oth er loyal Americans recently, but the re sponse \}~.s far from unanimous. All citi zens between the ages of 16 and 64 were ask ed to register for civilian defense. Prom Bailey 500 citizens should have registered but actually the fig ures read 197, Only one grade in school, the tv/elfth, register ed 100^. There are 67 pupils in high school over 16 years old,only 28 registered. Every one should have offer ed willingly and en thusiastically his services to help his country. Pacts should be faced if each per son does not offer his assistance and cooper ation, this,the great est struggle of Amer ica, cannot be v/on. It must be every shoulder to the v/heel. J. L.
