Bailev TeahVVins N FE-DERATION UD61NG J Tho Nauh County Fed eration of Future Farmers of Anerica held the annual seed judging and identifi cation contest in Nashville on Monday afternoon, -January 26. The contest v/as con - ducted by R.J, Peeler, the executive secre tary of the North Car olina P. F, A, The chapters competing were Nashville, Y/hi- takers. Coopers, Red Oak, Benvenue, Spring Hope, Middlesex, and Bailey. The contest required a knowledge of 161 seeds and plants. There was a possible score of 2100 points to be made by a team. The Bailey team ranked first, having a total of 1610 points. Second was the Middlesox team with 1523 points. BRAXTON H0IC:YCUTT of Bailey v/as high boy with 616 points out of 700, and Richard Stott of Bailoy v/as second v/ith 590 points» Ste phen v/as third. BAILEY LOSES IN STATE SEED JUDGING CONTEST The Bailey F. F. A, Seed Judging team re presented Nash County in the State Seed Judging Contest, v/hich v/as held in Greenville on Saturday, Jan, 30. The team was composed of Braxton Honeycutt, Stephen Earp, Richard Stott, and altornatos Clarence Nowsomo and Harold Cooper, There were 42 teams entered in the contest. First honors v/ent to the team from Pitts- boro, which scored 2090 points. Although the Bailey team did not v/in, they made a very croditablo show- Plans For Superv For 1942 CoMPLET ED ing v/ith a score of 1890 points, putting them in 15th placc. After the contest tho boys visited the an- ual seed exposition , v/hich is alv/ays hold in connoction with this contest. There wore all kinds of seed on display at this shov/, many they had never seen before. The students enjoye d their trip to Green ville and came home happy, even though they did not win first place. Thoir aim is "try harder next nov/j year, The hope to v/in first place then. isEO Practice The members of tho Bailoy Chapter of the Future Farmers of A- morica have completed their plans for a Sup- prviood Practice Pro gram for the year 1941-42, There are a total of 162 different projects composed o f 45 corn, 51 breeding swine,17 feeding hoga, 18 acres of tobacco. 16 chickens, 14 acres of soy beans, 8 acres of sweet potatoes, 5 beef cattle, 3 acres wheat, and 7 acres cotton. This is an av erage of 2.-^- projects per member. This is an average increase of project por member over last year's sup ervised practice pro gram.
