LE..RNING TO LIVE LIVING TO SERVE.” Workshop Secures New Equipment Equipment aidounting to 4^1,250.00 has been secured for the Bailey High Agricultural de partment since the first of January. Some of the tools, included are handsaw, jointer, ripsaw, acetyline wel der, electric sand - der,electric grinders, and several hand tools With this nevv added equipment the boys are more interested and are, therefore, able to do more officient work. Boys Build \Arieo Articles In Shop For the past month the agricultural boys have been working in the shop. Araong the articles iuade by them' are shoe-shine boxen, milk stoola, magazine racks, biddy feeders, hog feeder,book cases, lawn chairs, uingle trees, breast yolkn, scoops, floor lamps, biddy brooders, card tables, magazine and radio tables, water barrels for hogs, v/ork benches, flower boxes, quilting frames, what nots, medicine cabin ets, hoiiimar handles, and other articles. Mr. Howton Assumes New Duties July 1 Mr. Howton, who is leaving at the end of this year to give his valuable services to the Peoples Bank in Rocky Mount, wishes to express his apprecia tion to the boys for their fine cooperation in working with him. Ho reports that the boys ii^ve done very- good work in the shop and in other phases of agricultural work as v/ell. Mr. Hovvton's new du ties will be in the capacity of agricul tural adviser for the bank* Ke will make farm surveys, farm ap praisals, and give ad vice about and aid in purchasing livestock. His work v/ill be very similar to that done in this co-.iimunity, and v/ill, as usual, be in cooperation with agri- cul.tural tcachcrs and county agents. REGRETS There has been a lull in the air aroxuid the apiculture building since the future farm ers learned that Mr, Hov/ton, our verj cap able teacher, is leav ing us after this ;yeaii Since Ivir. Hov/ton came to Bailey, the P.F.A. has won many honors. We know the loss of his advice will be tre mendous, but v;c hope to carry this advice far into life. C aap ter Jerome Vickis Story Wins In State Project Contest Jerome Vick, whoso project story of his Spotted Poland China Gilt appeared in the January issue of the Bai.loy Bugle, won the project story contest in the March issue of the State PutureParmor paper,"TAR IfEEL TALKS'.’ ho \:as given three dollars for his story.
