April 10. 1942 BAILEY BUGLb Lions Club Sponsors CiBen-Up Week, April 6 A "clean-up, pick-up, paint-up” ca:npaign is being sponsored by the Bailey Lions Club the week of April 6-11. First,sccond,and third prizes of three dol lars, two dollars, and one dollar, respec tively, v;ill be given. Everybody in Bailey will be in the contest^ for every home and place of business v/ill be visited by the judges. Prizes v/ill be given on the basis of the amount of v/ork done and improvement made. JUDGING The main objectives are to clean up alleys, tear down signs and old buildings that arc eyesores,collect loose tin,and beautify yards. The debris will be collectcd on 'Wednesday and Friday. First judging was Monr day morning and the second judging v/ill be Friday or Saturday, H.S. BaILEY BUGLE were entertained at a dinner party on Thurs day evening,April 2,by the editors' m'othors, Mrs. D. Farmer and Mrs. Ivi. P. Morgan. The party was at the home of Mrs.Farmer. Tho oc casion was to honor the staff for its re cent success. The ad visers,Mr s. A. K. Par mer, Mrs. Laurinc Las siter, and r.'ir. Carl H. V/alker, also attended. Special Senior Privileges Granted Through tho genero sity of Mr. V/alkcr, tho seniors have been granted special senior privileges that have never before been be stowed upon a group of graduates at Bailey High School, If everyone prepares his lessons woll,shov/3 a determined effort in stvidying,and leaves no doubt about his pass ing, no senior will have to take a final examination at the end of this semester. Bailey'S F. F. a. Band Wins The Bailey Chapter of Future^ Farmers of iunerica v/on the Nash County Federation Band Contest,v/hich was held at Nashville on'Wed. afternoon, Apiil 11. Members of the • b'iind are Jack Farmer, Mill ard Lai'iUn, Bobby Jones Corbette, James Has kins, and Clyde Finch. The Middlesex Chapter placed second. Mid dlesex won first place in the Ritual contest while Bailey placed secona. Members of the Bailej Chapter com peting in the Ritual contest v/ero Richard Stott, Horace High, Jack Farmer, E.C. Grif fin, Jr., Braxton Honey cutt, V/illis Manning, and Dan Johnson. E.A. Howton is advisor of tho Bailey Chapter and Fred U. V/olfo is ad viser of the Middlesex Chapter, Other Chap ters represented in the contest were Coopers, Spring Hope, Nashville, Rod Oak, Benvonue, Whitakers.
